Jessie Hall
Jessie Hall is a young emerging artist communicating both her bewilderment and wonder at the world she sees around her. Jessie traverses a wide range of media and materials (traditional drawing media, mixed media, photography and contemporary installation) to create works and depict subject matter that is initially perceived as humorous but on extended viewing reveal a darker more sharply ironic quality.
It is Jessie’s quirky observations and energetic illustrative style that appeals to viewers of her work no matter what medium she is working in. She has a knack of sourcing unloved and abandoned surfaces and materials along with stray clippings of text and integrating her unique visual observations directly in to and on these artefacts.
Having just graduated from Trinity Bay State High School and already involved with local Artist Run Initiative RATS, Jessie Hall is an artist who is set to make her mark on the world. The Tanks Art Centre is proud to present her first solo exhibition, “I honestly don’t know what people are thinking….”.
