“One by One”

Black and White Photography, clay, wax, felt.

My work documents a journey.  It documents the patterns, tones and textures of a track leading into an unknown landscape.  The train track photograph, which is a momento of an actual journey I took, has been digitised and then each separate manipulation used as a paper negative in the darkroom to create a series of mysterious photograms.  I have cropped each image in tiny circular pebble shapes and secured them with wax on to sun dried clay. I carefully selected and sequenced each flashback image to create a unified whole, while still allowing the detail and uniqueness of each separate image to be contemplated and appreciated.  This process of searching for pattern, meaning and form from fleeting moments of experience reflects the same process I am working through as I try to find my own pathway after high school.
